Whenever I come across an MRT station, I recall a terrifying incident that left me trembling for a long time.The details are still very vivid in my mind. Whenever I need to go somewhere, I would never take the MRT. I did not want the incident to happen to me ever again. The incident was horrifying and it was a close shave! The incident happened like this...

"R-I-N-G!" The school bell rang as the students rushed out of the school main gate frantically. I was one of them. I had just gotten my examination paper and I passed with flying colours! I beamed as I eagerly rushed to the nearby MRT to go home. I could not wait to tell my mother about this good news. Little I know that a disaster was going to happen to me.

When I reached the MRT station, there were a sea of faces there. the people were packed like sardines,lively and bustling. Suddenly an alarm sounded. then,an announcement was heard , telling everyone to evacuate at once. just then,a few MRT staff escorted us to the nearest emergency exit. Screams of horror penetrated the air. Peoples' blood froze and their face turned as white as sheet while the MRT staff tried to calm them down. Even the MRT staff were terrified, they did their jobs and escorted the people to the exit.

On my way to the emergency exit, I saw flames dancing in the air. The miniature inferno linked the walls as the roar grew louder and louder. The flame gave out a huge plume of smoke as it engulfed the area. Our eyes were smarting as we felt that our lungs were about to burst. "Help! I can't breathe!" I gasped in distress, between fists of coughing.

"W-A-I-L!" the fire brigade, their sirens blaring loudly, tore down the road towards the scene of the fire. Then, they sprang into action. In no time, they inserted the water hose into the fire hydrant and sprayed jets of water at the miniature inferno. The firemen battled furiously to save the burning MRT station.

After a while, the flame was put out. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief as the crowd dispersed. Luckily, no one was injured. Everyone thanked the firemen profusely. Then, everyone left as the sounds of sirens faded away.

From that day onwards, I never dared to enter a MRT station every again. I do not want the same incident to happen to me again. This incident was a close shave indeed.
